    Quality journalism right there!
    Esp this part
"They attack people by using their girth and power to ram them — essentially head-butting them — before slashing upwards with their sharp tusks."

I don't doubt what they can do. The point I was making was where was it copy & pasted from to form part of a 'researched' article.

If you put this They attack people by using their girth and power to ram them — essentially head-butting them — before slashing upwards with their sharp tusks into google and you get this

I've got no doubt that the journalist in question is not much of a Journalist, but saying that a pig will run away from you well before they even see you does not sound as tabloid as the above, the only way they will charge is if they are cornered and see you as the weakest link.

Yep its definitely underground hunting rings that are releasing the boar. There's definitely no other possibility that there is any other explanation :rolleyes::rolleyes:

And isnt it the same underground hunting rings that are releasing the black rabbits that are seen in some areas.... and sure it only has to be the same boyos that are flat to the board releasing muntjac around the country too...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

If you havent already noticed, there is a lot of sarcasm above but seriously - There is a recession, animal feed is not cheap. Most likely the boar have been released due to the owner not being able to keep them or else they just escaped where they were being kept and the owner is sh1tting themselves and wont come forward.

Underground hunting rings ? Please

Although it wouldnt surprise me if you see a programme devoted to it on tv3 complete with interviews of "underground hunters" in the blacked out shadow with their voice changed.

He should have just stepped out of the way and let him past.

Id say the reason he didn't shoot was he was busy filling his togs with the brown stuff.

So they were approaching a wild boar just sitting there in the open which only moved when the dogs went for it? I'll bet that boar had been shot and wounded and that's why it 'attacked' as it tried to get away.

Looking at it from where he was standing he was well within range of taking the shot before the dogs went after it.
Why didn't he take te shot.
And I agree with another poster. It does look like the boar was shot already. He managed to catch one of the dogs aswell. Heard the poor thing yelp

Probably because a lot of the time they dont shoot the boar when they catch them, they catch them alive and tie their legs.
If they're out for the day in the heat and shoot them the meat will be covered in flies and starting to rot.

The pistol is only for self defence in cases like that .
