I have calculated the vrt on a car in uk i want to import on the revenue web site no problem but im wondering if there is a top up charge if the car is a higher than standard spec?
Also if the car is less than 6 mts old or less than 6000km do i pay the full 23% vat here or is it just the difference between uk and irish vat amounts? Thanks
Ps. Its crazy the difference in price of cars between here and uk

Yes, you pay tax on extras too.

AFAIK you pay our VAT but claim a refund of the UK VAT.

VRT would be liable on all extra's above the standard specification you got the figure from for the car, off the VRT website.

If it's classed as a new car then it will be at the same VRT amount as the Irish options.

By the time you add VAT & VRT on to the UK pricing, you'll be surprised at how little the savings are.

Have an imported car being collected tomorrow. Was £27,500 in the UK, final Irish cost is €48,500 - although that does include just over €500 for a Tow Bar.
