Where to source a 2nd hand window motor - '05 Golf

My mechanic has told me that he can't source a 2nd hand window motor for my '05 Golf, quoting 300 from a main dealer. I'm totally clueless about these things but how would I go about sourcing one from a scrap yard? Surely not that hard to find....just ring around??????

Willing to pay someone to source one for me.

get a new one on ebay, honestly at the ebay price, the labour will cost more than the regulator and motor, better getting a new one and knowing you will get years out of it, you wouldnt know how long a used one will last.

Any local auto factors should have a pattern part(non genuine but still the same) at a bit less that genuine prices. Fitted them before, no problems

Guys I think the OP needs a motor, not a regulator.

Reason being that new regulators from the main dealer are nowhere near €300, new motors however are around €300.

There will be no source for a new motor other than the main dealer or the very odd one on ebay.

For a secondhand motor either ring a few local scrapyards or get onto ebay. You will need the part number off your old motor though. The door control unit is also built into it so there are several variants.

Hi guys yeah its the motor, not the regulator, rang a crowd (Duffys) and was told I need the part number from it as per above poster. Hopefully my mechanic took it down when he had the window apart.

Just to add that it is normally the door control part of the motor that fails and fitting a used part could be a very short term fix that is if it works at all.

You should find one on Ebay but be sure to get the exact part number. A similar one from a same age golf with different part number will not work
