some questions:) 1.Why do older farmers in ireland dry the hay till all the green is gone, when farmers in other countries leave a good bit of green in it?

    2. Should a pz haybob wheels swivel when cornering? 3. How to fix said wheels if they should? Many tnxs in advance.

Anybody got more questions 'bout hay?

Yep, why don't sellers sell by weight instead of per bale which is a con job given the absolute shambles some lads make of making bales.

No they don't swivel. That's why it's got the slide thing at the left. It allows the entire haybob "bend" to follow the tractor on left hand turns. You can't turn right without a fuss from the back end

Do younger farmers bale green hay? Probably because we don't normally get hay making weather. Most years if you baled hay while it is still green you will end up with mouldy hay, this year is an exception plenty green hay around.

Thinking about growing hay this coming summer (lads in Kildare charging €35 for 4x4!). All my fields have about 50% clover. Should I consider reseed straight grass for hay? I prob wouldnt get decent hay the first year.

Clover takes a good while to dry down in a good year to the point were it wont cause the bales to heat. In a sketchy year when you only just about have time to make it id be nervous....
