Whatever rate you get at the moment on jobseekers

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Hey. I was on the dole last year and I transferred over to BTEA. I'm 20 and only get 75 euro on the dole as I still live at home. (Bit ridiculous, but what can you do?) However, when I transferred over to BTEA I received the full 188 euro.I don't know if that will be true for you but just thought i'd add my two cents and I did not get a reduced rate of BTEA even though I have a reduced rate of dole.

That may not be relevant because they changed the rules for new applicants.

My apologies I did not know they had changed the rules.

what if your on the j benefit? everyone gets 188 on that till your stamp runs out. mine is due to run out in about 4 weeks but i should be well on beta by then. im sure i will get less when im means tested on ja as my wife works. but like i said ill be on beta before it comes to that.

    I'm not sure.

I think from this paragraph you get 188
    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/back_to_education/back_to_education_allowance.html
From 1 January 2013, where a person on a graduated rate of jobseekers’ benefit based on earnings bands applies for BTEA, the rate of BTEA is equal to their JB rate. However, the person may opt for a JA rate. If the JB rate changes on the commencement of a new governing contribution year, then the BTEA rate may be amended.

really? Thats shocking if they expect people to go to college with 75 quid a week just because they are younger. Rent is still the same if they have to move and food still also the same.

Last i heard everyone gets 188 or the max amount including myself. But im not a new applicant.

New applicants who are under 25 receiving a reduced JSA or JSB payment get their payment maxed upto 160

New applicants over 25 who are receiving a reduced payment because of a means test do not get their payment maxed up. They stay on their existing payment amount.

You should stay on the 188 because you are an existing applicant
