nothing, you should have 3e, rtejr, rteone+1 and 10 radio stations on saorview now.

so it goes rte1, rte1+1, RTE 2 HD, TG4 TV3, 3e, Rte jr plus radio

What else would this aerial give me in Galway?

Do you have a Saorview TV or receiver?
How do you receive the channel you list now?

Are you getting all the tv and radio channels listed at http://www.saorview.ie/what-is-saorview/ ?

RTE JNR is only available during the day - its replaced by RTE 1 +1 from 7pm

In that case I assume you're using an aerial so, that aerial won't get any other channels other than those listed on the Saorview link.

But ... it was mentioned here just recently that certain parts of NE Co Galway with the correct aerial installation might be able to pull in the 2/3 strong multiplexes from Brougher Mt in Tyrone with the UK PSB channels - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=86294912

This is however one of the situations, where a real (and large) group A aerial may well be worthwhile instead of a wideband60 like this Aldi model (otherwise looking OK on the picture).

20kW over about 140 km. A very low noise masthead amp may also help a lot - I think.

Remember there is no such thing as a digital aerial Aldi are misdercribing it. It is also not 48 element, they are counting each element 4 times. It is a 12 element quad bay aerial.

The Aldi aerial will be fine for Saorview from Maghera Ch. 48. Wideband aerials tend to perform better in the C/D aerial group and much worse in group A (channels 21-37), so would be best avoided if you are going to receive from the Galway City relay at Tonabrucky on channel 26. No hope of the UK muxes anywhere near Galway City - Sky or Freesat is the only option for the UK channels there. I could not vouch for the quality of the Aldi aerial - there is probably cheaper and better from a professional installer, seller.

In certain parts of east and north east co. Galway a proper Group A aerial and low noise masthead amp WILL bring in the PSB 20 KW muxes from Brougher Mountain. I got a lock on with no breakup at shoulder level with a group A 10 element contract aerial and 19 db Johannson masthead amp. So a much higher gain (bigger) aerial or a twin or quad array (properly installed) with a low noise masthead amp, would certainly bring in a stable signal there. I doubt it would bring in the weaker 2KW commercial muxes or the NIMM mux at that distance.

It would probably be cheaper (and way more reliable reception wise) to get a satellite dish and fta receiver, and receive all the fta UK channels - a no brainer.

But that's not as exciting as long distance terrestrial TV reception!

Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Speaking of Aldi, they recently had an Akura AVDVB325 Saorview terrestrial receiver (Aldi near me still has a few in stock ).
I saw the box itself just has an on/off button ! I saw no Up & Down channel buttons on the box so if the remote goes missing, or the batteries fail, you are in trouble and cannot change channel !
Its very mean on the part of the manufacturer.

Remotes OFTEN go missing, sometimes even brought out accidentally to cars, Elderly people often need help changing batteries, so having no fall-back of up/down buttons on the box itself is a bad thing.

BTW The remote itself looks identical to the one for the Walker combi box WP645TS-HD
