Terminating your own HDMI cable

    Hi,

I'm just after having a new house build and I put in conduit from one side of the room to the other so that I could run a HDMI cable to a projector. I went with the conduit instead of just running a cable so that I could change out a cable in future when standards change, HDMI 2.0 for example.

I want to put in an HDMI wall plate at both ends and connect an HDMI cable to them. The conduit is just wide enough for the HDMI head, so I will have to cut the cable to exact size as I wouldn't be able to push the remaining cable back into the conduit. But this is where I am having an issue, I've seen a few kits but they are stupid money, some even over 1k

What would be the best way to do this?

Hdmi Terminating kits can be purchase but you will also need the crimping tool also they can cost around €100.

You should also run 2 cat6 cables if you can also, you can send a HD signal over longer distances with cat6.

Concerning the HDMI matrix's they usually come in 4x4 (4 source/4 zone) and 8x8 and yes can be quiet expensive especially when you go to the 8x8 systems. there are cheap options out there but control and function of them would be compromised and drive you crazy after a while. I suppose you have to look at the benefits for the higher end models, all your sources would be stored and connected to that 1 matrix and you will be able to view all your sources in any zone, you would be able to control over IR from each zone also or by a harmony remote.

HDAnywhere do a great multiroom 4x4 hdmi matrix you should check them out.
