Performance issues?

    Hi Guys,
Im looking for a bit of advice in relation to sport basicly because it is a personal issue to me so here is my story and what I need. My Sport is Hurling and 2 seasons ago I was highly regarded as one of the brightest young players in my club but this has gone horribly wrong since. 2 seasons ago I was dropped from the team because I was perhaps a little over confident of my place. Anyhow I knuckled down and went from strength to strength as the season went on finally beginning to fulfill some of my potential and teammates and selectors calling for my inclusion in the team but the subsequent events have had serious knock on effects to my confidence and motivation as my manager failed to give me the chances I deserved, we had arguments and my performance suffered as a result. T The season ended that we won a county championship where I played no part and was dreadfully upset. The following season I missed half of it due to my unfair treatment and refusal to play, but eventually I patched things up with the manager and returned but despite the fact I was restored to the team I was dogged my inconsistency but I had one absolutely tremendous performance in the first round of the championship last season which I have failed to produce since. That season ended and this season we had a change of manager where I felt i could thrive and this new manager has shown tremendous faith in me and he was one of the first to praise my superb performance in the championship last season. But despite all the faith shown in me, this season has been nothing short of horrendous for me, I have turned into a peripheral figure on the field where i was once always at the centre of the action but he has continued to show faith in me but as Ive continued to perform poorly my heart and motivation have waned to such a point where my effort level has decreased dramatically. The events of 2 seasons ago although I have long forgotten about them have changed my attitude, confidence and my motivation. I no longer have that motivation to pick myself up from mistakes and to kick on and I tend to dwel on them which I never used to do. Another thing is despite all this, I have approached every game with the attitude, this is the moment but as soon as that whistle blows, something clicks into gear in my head and Im just miles away. Last weeks game was the final straw it seems as the managers patience wore out and I was subsituted early in the second half, distraught but knew I just wasnt good enough. That seems to have taken the last bit of hope away from me and I am no longer confident of turning it around. I suppose I could almost compare my situation as something similar to Fernando Torres. I intend to quit at the end of the season instead of putting myself through more torture but basicly I have one thing I have to ask.....I am 10 days away from the first round of the championship and I really want to go out on a high note, how can I turn it around in 10 days? My attitude and my motivation? My confidence and my workrate?

    Sports Psychologist

I sat in on a group talk one gave a few years ago and even the general ideas they use have been a great benefit to me.

    Sports psychologist as already suggested.

What may also help is personal strength and conditioning coaching from a trainer who has a track record of working with sports people to achieve their goals.
