I noticed there are quite a few private forums with obscure names that you need to get a mod to give you access. I have no idea what they are about or if there is anything in them that I would be interested in. For example, The Lock In or Nein10.

Is there a way of finding out what these forums are about without bothering the mods of each forum for a description?

Not really. They tend to be inherently obscure at times, given that they don't fit in as normal forums.

Thanks for the reply. Seems a bit of an odd way to operate. How are they meant to recruit members :confused::confused:

    Anyway, thanks again.

Word of mouth, or they represent a pre-existing group. The private groups are very varied in their content and target audience.

It's really variant on the forum if you'll be allowed in or not.

The best way to find out what is what is PM the Mods.

There are private forums that will most likely accept you on request and then there are more specific ones who will not without certain criteria being met.

PM the relevant Mod and ask for a forum description. If you get a response and you want to be apart of that forum, ask them how to go about gaining access.

As extension to what MugMugs has said, permission can be arbitrarily granted and removed for a private forum, and as such there's also no recourse to DRP either.
