2400 Mhz RAM defaulting to 1333 Mhz

(This may be in the wrong forum!)

    Hi guys,

Recently I purchases Kingston HyperX 2400 Mhz "Beast" RAM, along with an ASUS Sabertooth 990 FX R2.0 and FX-8350 CPU (Stock @ 4.0Ghz) and my RAM is set, default/auto, to 1333Mhz in the BIOS.

Having read a bit online, I know I need to manually config it to get the RAM up to its rated speed, but I've never done any overclocking at all, let alone RAM.

From reading of various people doing it on different motherboards, I've gathered that I must set my Memory Freq. to DDR3-2400Mhz in the BIOS (default - AUTO) and then change the DRAM Timing Control. This is where I'm lost. How do I know what numbers to pop in? I also assume I'm going to need to push the DRAM Voltage to 1.65v as well, in order to get the 2400Mhz.

    Any and all tips appreciated!

    EDIT:

Thanks to a user below, RATED TIMINGS: 11-13-13-30

So, am I right that I do the following:

    1) Memory Freq from AUTO to 2400 Mhz.
    2) DRAM Timings from AUTO to 11, 13, 13 and 30 on the first four options.
    3) Extreme OV from Disabled to Enabled, then DRAM Voltage from 1.5v to 1.65v.

You could try setting only the clock speed and leaving the rest on auto

Do you have a link to you ram even being high speed ram like that it might still only need 1.5v.
If you link the ram we can tell you which timing to use.

Just realized this is the same ram i'm using, did set frequency to auto and the timings did auto-set as above. Good price for the speed ^^

A quick google got me this link http://www.komplett.ie/komplett/product/zkb-01com/20184033/kingston-hyperx-beast-16gb-pc3-19200-dimm/details.aspx which seems to be the exact pair I have.

Yea to 1 and 2 but wouldnt have taught the setting to allow dram voltage would be called extreme ov as thats usually for serious overclocking without throttling, could be wrong though. If it allows dram voltage change, just change that and leave other voltages on auto then

Yeah, I got it. I was following a video where the user has a ROG board, and thus the Extreme OV option. I changed my DRAM Voltage from 1.5v to 1.65v as per the above linked article and got my 2400 Mhz. Much appreciated!

Edit: here's the video, in case you're interested.

Is there any stability test I can run to make sure this is stable?

It seems, since upping the RAM to it's 2400 Mhz, I've had reoccuring crashes in both Battlefield 3 and ARMA3.

btw, what was the speed of the RAM you upgraded from?

Sorry? I installed my RAM, the 2400 Mhz kit, which was defaulted to 1333 Mhz. I didn't have a previous kit as this is a complete new build.
