Looking for some valued opinion on how to structure my training in between running Dingle Marathon on Saturday and Dublin in October.
I am treating Dingle as a training run:eek:( also is my local marathon) as Dublin would be my goal marathon. Looking at a sub 3.40 for Dublin, so I reckon maybe between 4 and 4.15 for Dingle

Do I rest for a few weeks, and how far should my long runs be, also how should I manage my taper.

    All opinions greatly appreciated.

It's doable but i think you have it all backwards.

when you are thinking of target time remember that the Dingle route is alot tougher than Dublin

    best of luck

    Hi Grasscutter

Cheers for advice, program looks manageable enough, once I'm not left out around Slea Head somewhere! As I say I plan to run with 4.15 group and try and enjoy it. Think I have the miles done, just a matter of reining myself in and pacing correctly.

the hill at around mile 18 on the Dingle route is very interesting to say the least, so leave something in the tank for that

Just curious to how you got on on Saturday? I'm in the same line of thought, though found Dingle very tough from mile 18 on, had to slow up and listen to my body so came in at 4:25 but plan to be back training for Dublin from tomorrow.

    Hi Sideshow Gaz

Struggled a little on the out and back section, and made a decision to walk/ run the hill afterwards. Felt strong for last 3 miles from top, even managed a 7.40!!. Came in at 3.58, so happy enough. Probably went a little quicker than I should have as it was supposed to be a training run! Will start back tomorrow, nice and easy however.

Will follow P&D 8 week programme( instructs you to miss week 3 as there is only 7
weeks left). Legs feel good, just quads a little sore.
