City Center Resturrants who will cater for 50

In the throes of wedding planning. We dont want to go down the regular Irish wedding (church, then hotel for reception, dinner and big function room).

50 people total attending. We have booked a room for a civil ceremony in Temple Bar. We are now looking for a restaurant to cater for 50 people.

Unfortunately its much harder than it seems.

First preference was Luigi Mallones, but as its December 2014, they dont want a party of 50 and so declined to accept our business.

If anyone can advise of some decent restaurants in the Temple Bar/City Centre area (walking distance of temple bar), that might cater for 50 people, Id appreciate any information!

    Thanks all!

L'Gueuleton might and what about Fallon & Byrne?
Have you looked at Beaufield Mews?

Checked with Fallon and Byrne, they are not interested in less than 70 pople, and they are pretty expensive also.

The other two recommendations, I have not checked but will have a look at both. Thanks for giving us some potential options!

Try Fire or Medley on Dame Street. Medley is a private hire resturant

After much messing about, we landed on this place.

Its a bit more expensive than planned, but the cost includes then entire house for the day, so we didn't need a room for the civil service. Beautiful place too. They cater for 40 - 60 people.

Thanks for all the responses so far guys, really appreciate it.

To summarize so far, most places are either don't want a party of 50 as they can make more on couples, or they have planned a different menu for Dec 2014 and a different price.

Most are asking 50 quid a head which is out of our budget. We are aiming for 30 per person, not including wine. doesnt look like Dublin can accommodate unfortunately.

    - Fire : menu is 50 euro - too expensive
    - Odessa : Asked us if it was possible to reschedule our wedding!
    - Medley - Awaiting response on inquiry
    - le bon curbeen - Awaiting response on inquiry
    - 25 fitzwilliam place : 145 euro a head. Outside of our budget by a looong way!
    - KC Peaches : unfortunately the menu is a little too different.

Ireland is not fun to plan a wedding any way out of the ordinary, or on a limited budget!

    Keep the recommendations coming guys!

Ah I didn't see your budget before - Fitzwilliam Place will be a bit more than that unfortunately.

    Some other suggestions:

Il Baccaro in meeting house square
    The Millstone on Dame Street
The Church pub on Mary Street (they have a separate function area)
    FXB in temple bar

If its any use as a recommendation, kc peaches do some of the nicest food in dublin and Ive worked with them as the caterers several times and found them very amenable.

IMO, I think 30e a head is very low for many of the popular restaraunts to accomodate a group at xmas so your choice might start to be limited. Try Tante Zoes, Kohs

Odessa is great venue for a party and food. pity they cant accomodate

    hey Guys.

Thanks for the continued suggestions and help.

To keep this updated, for myself and incase it helps someone else:

    - Fire : menu is 50 euro - too expensive
    - Odessa : Asked us if it was possible to reschedule our wedding!
    - Medley - Awaiting response on inquiry - no response after almost a week
    - le bon curbeen - Awaiting response on inquiry - no response after almost a week
    - 25 fitzwilliam place : 145 euro a head. Outside of our budget by a looong way!
    - KC Peaches : unfortunately the menu is a little too different.
-FXB Pembroke : 50 euro head menu planned for 2014, too expensive
-FXB Temple Bar - cant accommodate 50 people
-Millstone: may be able to accomodate, they are checking how much time they can give us.
-The Church: website wouldnt work, will try calling them later.
-Rolly Saul dundrum: Said they could accommodate at a good price and we are currently talking with them. a bit farther out than id like but running out of options, and Rolly's is a fab restaurant and ive eaten there many times before.

We are considering pushing our budget up a little, but most are 50 a head and we cant reach that high so we are playing it by ear at present.

If you are considering Dundrum then I would suggest two places northside quite close to the phoenix park, the hole in the wall and angler's rest. I really like both and I know the HITW does parties and angler's rest does quite a few weddings.

Again, on the KC peaches thing, the food is fab and I'm not a fan of haute cuisine or big plate/small portion food. They might even design a menu with you.

There is a place called Schoolhouse on the way to Ballsbridge that's nice - not sure what they charge could be above your budget but they have a private room the size you are interested in.

Are you not going to have any dancing at all? Just dinner and then home?

Would love an update on this too.

Am planning something very similar. Smaller numbers - about 30. We are having a restaurant meal after registry office and then home to celebrate. Will be very intimate. I was at a function in the anglers rest and remember remarking that the upstairs part would be a lovely place for a wedding.

    Hey Guys,

Apologies for not replying on this sooner.

    So far the plan is:

Ceramony and reception drinks in the Clarence Hotel - Booked.

    Registrar and photographer - Booked.

Restaurant for meal - not yet booked. have 2-3 places to view.

Place to party the night away - not yet booked. this is causing difficulty. would like to be in the middle of dublin christmas shenanigans, but think to keep the guests all together will have to book a function room somewhere. Looking at the barge but very open to options yet.

Once i get an update il post it here.
