There's an older thread with pics etc that describes de-tint but also how to get rid of the glue here.

Fly spray is fantastic for removing glue

I have tried 'Sticky Stuff' removal gel from Halford's without success, desperate at this stage, willing to try anything, window looks as if it is permanently frozen, thanks for the tips.

Flat edge of a Razor blade and window cleaner, you need to be very careful not to hit the wires though.

I ant to be careful & not damage the heating on the rear window alright, someone else mentioned WD40 to me, looks as if it's going to be a very slow process, I was hoping there might something that would dissolve the glue residue & it could then be removed without resolving to a blade, white spirit maybe ?, thanks for suggestions folks.

No messing, morteen or fly spray. Try it before you go scraping. It just melts the glue

I'd avoid white spirit - heating "wires" are (simplifying a bit) painted on glass, so it's easy just to wash them away. ;)

It's looking like the fly spray is the best option at this stage, will give it a try & report back, cheers.

Wouldn't go astray with a can of coke either.

coke or vinegar will work. Window cleaner with vinegar etc

And while your at it, don't forget to clean your headlights with white toothpaste. Not the gel or stripey kind. Just white.

    This stuff really does work.

Nail-polish remover (acetone) will kill glue dead. Try a little on a corner of the glass.

Ok, get some wire wool, must be 000 or 0000 ONLY. Anything heavier you will end up scratching the window and the heat elements. Mix some Johnson’s baby bath with cold water, 10% - 90% water mix and give your window a scrub left and right and that should do the job! The tint should have been taken off with a steamer to start with but just be careful scrubbing and all should be fine!

    Good luck

This. Buy the cheapest stuff you can get you hands on in the supermarket and get to work. It worked a treat for me.

A cheap tin of standard thinners from a motor factors or halfords, a clean rag, pair of gloves and away you go. Works every time.
