Best bet would be a taxi from Wexford Station, no bus service to speak of. Should be around €5/6.

The Wexford bus service to Rosslare stops near there at Sinnottstown Lane but will be little use to you on Thursday. It leaves Wexford at 8.35am, 12.30pm and 4.45pm Monday-Saturday if you were hoping to need it for a new job.

    thanks.

I called Wexford bus and there's a bus that drops close to sinnotstown but its 10 min away from it. From there I will walk to sinnotstown, and from sinntotswon to wexford business park.

Hi and wish I could be a help here, but may I just advise that I would not recommend walking if you are a female, even in daylight. Sorry if this sounds totally overly dramatic, but I just feel genuine concern for the safety of any lady walking along a road alone nowadays unless in town where you are surrounded by lots of people. It is just not worth the risk and perhaps better still, you could contact the office at the business park and explain your situation and am sure that they would gladly send a member of staff to the bus stop for you.

It would just be a small courtesy in my opinion and one that I experienced once when landing a distance away from an interview in Stillorgan. The boss immediately offered to send a staff member to collect me and simply asked me to text when nearing the bus stop.

Please just try..nothing to lose with that option at least.

Please don't follow this advice -- it has no bases in realty and is very, very strange.

Dear Monument, please be so kind and explain your comment above, as I am at a total loss as to it's meaning, or why you should respond in this way, to what I consider to be a genuine post which happened to take the safety of the boards member into consideration, or have I misunderstood the topic...

I understood that the person needed advice on getting to a destination which required him/her to walk some distance alone along a main road from the bus stop.

I don't know if you are familiar with the stretch of road in question, but I am and therefore gave the kind of safety advice that anyone who knows the area would have done. We are being told every day by the police in Wexford that we are to apply common sense when out alone away from people and not take unnecessary risks, so to my way of thinking I was just trying to be helpful, seeing as the writer is not familiar with the area.

Quite often, if one is going for an interview and you have no transport to the premises, the person who is conducting the interview will offer to send a member of staff who has naturally been security checked to collect you, so that you arrive safely. Large companies sometimes do this, so, I am sorry if it sounds strange, but I was speaking from my own experience where it worked perfectly. The company will normally send a female secretary wearing the company's security tag to collect a female client or prospective employee, so how is that strange.

If the member does not wish to do this, then at least a 5 Euro taxi would be a safer option than walking, that is all I was suggesting.

My sincere aim was to offer the member an alternative to risking walking, as she/he suggested they were going to do.

I would appreciate it if you would offer me the courtesy of explaining what you find strange or unrealistic about my post, or has there been some genuine misunderstanding perhaps....

In the time I have been on Boards.ie, I have never sent strange or unrealistic posts to any member, nor have I ever received a post with the wording you used and to which I take offence.

Maybe Wexford is the crime capital of Ireland or something?

For the rest of the country, including Dublin, I've never heard the gardai give advice which matches your unfounded fears.

The crime stats also don't back up your claims that a woman should not walk in the daylight -- which is quite an unreal claim.

Edit: I'd go further and add that a real risk here is that your advice of asking for a lift off a potental employer risks the person getting marked down or off the list of job candidates. Why? Because employer are allowed and should have a reasonable expectation that employees can generally make their own way to work and it does not look great when someone can't even make their own way to an interview.

    Is this the location? https://maps.google.ie/?ll=52.308741,-6.456935&spn=0.004972,0.015278&t=m&z=16&layer=c&cbll=52.308694,-6.4571&panoid=Q2ZvdM2ssOpLlt0RBedhCg&cbp=12,5.98,,0,-2.48

It seems to be about 5km from the train station, so a long walk. Wexford Bus have a service to Rosslare that serves the business park.

I can't see a place with businesses, footpaths and street lighting being a particular problem. It's not as it the are is known for rampaging bandits or wolves or wolf bandits.

Thank you for your responses and I take on board your valid comments regarding the employer employee.

I guess attitudes have changed greatly since I was offered this courtesy by my prospective employer and no, I didn't of course ask him to send someone, which of course would not make me a credible prospective employee, but the courtesy was offered without hesitation and I later learned it was the practice for all those who came on that country bus route, so that they would not be left to walk alone in all weathers.

Nice touch from the company I felt, but guess the practice now sounds quite alien to those who cannot imagine it happening.

However, I do think you show a naivety with regard to the safety of walking main out of town roads alone, as unfortunately we do not live in Germany where nobody needs to use the roadside but has access always to paths for their safety. I therefore genuinely felt it would be reckless of me to encourage a stranger to the area to take any chances on the road.

If you are in any doubt with regard to the advice that Wexford rural police give, you will find it by attending any of our Community Alert meetings. It was they who enlightened us that yes, crime does sometimes take place during the daylight hours and yes, women must exercise caution and just take basic safety precautions when out alone on quiet roads. It was not a form of scare mongering or overly dramatic spiel, it was given in a balanced and very clear manner.

I do believe that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and no Wexford is of course not the crime capital of Ireland, but like any other part of the country, one needs to apply common sense along roads where there are no safety paths, often dangerous drivers and a huge volume of heavy goods vehicles on their way to and from Rosslare Port. That road has seen it's share of accidents over the years and I have never seen any woman walk alone along it either day or night and we use the road regularly.

Let us just leave it there please, as to continue in this vain is simply churlish, particularly, as you will not even concede that my aims were genuine.

Have a nice day and spread a smile, wherever you are. It costs nothing, but can make such an impact on the recipient.

If it is worth coming all that way for a position, then I guess the best option is, if I may be permitted to add a touch of humor here; keep your Jimmy Choos in your handbag, wear walking shoes, bring an umbrella and the best of luck, if you don't think that a short taxi ride would be so much worth it.

Have a nice day and spread a smile, wherever you are.

While I do believe your concerns are genuine, to suggest to a visitor to our county that it is dangerous to walk on a Regional road in Wexford, one with footpaths and street lighting is absurd. There is danger everywhere in society, I agree but this form of scaremongering (which is exactly what it is is) really does make me angry. I'm not a troll, just seriously concerned at the advice that's being given here.

Thank you and I was not made fully aware that the person would definitely be walking along a footpath with street lighting etc, but wrongly assumed that they would have to also use the main road, after where the footpath ends, so a human error there, sorry.

Yes, scaremongering makes me angry too and there are plenty of them around, but I assure that I was not consciously inferring anything other than basic safety measures regarding the road I thought the person would be using.

What is not so good about typed messages I fear is that it is often so easy to be misinterpreted, as one cannot convey to the reader any sense of compassion, or the willingness to see beyond words that are well meant, yet perhaps unfortunately phrased. So we try to rectify that by responding in kind and so it goes. No harm or any form of misguidance intended on my part and am sure the poster will find their way without issue to their destination. Maybe they will even be quite amused at our exchange of posts, but I guess it at least shows we care enough to respond.

I would never assume you to be a troll, but rather like to imagine that you are just someone with an equal interest in helping the initial poster.

    Have a nice evening now.

    Hi,

I went to wexford last week and I took a taxi from wexford town to the business park.

While going back I waited about 15 - 20min for a taxi to drive by which never happened. So I walked frm the business park and I took a local bus to wexford town.

I called wexford bus and there's no bus serving the IDA.
