    Very strict.
I get a great laugh walking by every day seeing the gardai pulling some idiot who can't read.

Can I ask why your wondering.
If its to see if its worth risking it?
    It's not.
Also you've one of the biggest stations in Dublin 50 metres away. It'd be like doubling your speed going by a Garda station.

Don't chance it. Depending on where you want to go there are a few ways around.

Go for it you only live once.

What are the hours that cars can use it?
If it's anything like bus lanes, everyone must be afraid to use it even when allowed.

Bus and taxis, only during the following
    Monday-Friday 07:00-10:00 and 16:00 to 19:00.

Unfortunately no, there's way more people who use it than the bus lanes when not in operation. :(

Granted its been a while since I've been down there and I'm well aware of it. But its not well sign posted at all. I didn't know the times until I read this thread. The entire left hand side of the street is a bus lane, so unless you really sharp and a bus isn't blocking your view, there is absolutely no way of knowing you can't turn left or determine if you can or not.

There's a big ass electronic sign with the times on it.
If you miss it, you probably shouldn't be on the road. It's not like its hidden or anything.

I'd see at least one car a day pulled when its in operation just outside the front gates of trinity.

Thanks everyone I won't bother risking it and will go an alternative route.

You mean the sign at the top of Dawson St? Kinda useless if you ask me because if your not from Dublin, how are you suppose to know what street it refers to? A street that is at least 200m away, passed numerous junctions. And at the end of Dawson you can turn right onto Nassau St (Any time) but not left. There is a smaller sign, on the right hand side, just at Trailfinders but if your jostling with buses and three lanes of traffic, you'd miss it fairly sharply.

Theres no road markings either to indicate restricted usage, that I'm aware of. I'm from Dublin and know it well, and I'm aware of the times. However I feel its poorly sign posted for those that may be unfamiliar with the area especially on such a busy street. I feel sorry for anyone genuinely caught out by it.

There is a sign there at the entrance to college green.
I'll take a picture of it.
The one at the bottom of Dawson street is tiny.

I drive through it often enough, never been pulled.

    It's well worth the risk.

It is until you get pulled. And they are fairly active there.
I'd liken it to doing an excessive speed just outside a Garda station.
You mightnt get done, but is it worth the risk?

Is this correct that these are the hours cars CAN use it? Doesnt make sense, why would they let cars use it during peak rush hour traffic?

I presume its outside these hours..?

OP, where are you going to / coming from? There's generally a way to go that doesn't run the gauntlet of this corridor and isn't much slower.

Yes, other than from between 0700-1000 and 1600-1900 Mon-Fri, you're free to use that junction.

No no no. It's during those hours that cars can't use it.
I've edited my original answer. Cheers

What part is this? is this the area around trinity? I mean going all the way from heineked building around it, passing main trinity entrance and then left off grafton street? or is that different?

From pearse st Garda station if coming from pearse st.
If coming from dolier st, you go around onto college st.
There's no left turn up towards grafton st during the times it's in operation for cars.
Instead they must turn right onto Westmorland st.

What's the fine if you're caught? I've seen a fair few people chancing it and never spotted any of them pulled in. Bit of me thinks fair play to the cheeky bastards and another (admittedly larger) bit hopes they get pulled.

Funny enough I absolutely despise chancers in a regular bus lane....consistency is over-rated :)

I got slapped with an 80 quid fine for driving through it before, my own fault, hadn't gone through it before and completely forgot. Motorbike Garda standing there having a field day
