May have to get some work done on front teeth. The dentist says there is a new(ish) veneer now called a Componeer.
Its the same idea as porcelain/composite veneers but about half the price. The work is usually complete in one visit .

Has anyone heard of these veneers or have them fitted.

    Thanks

I place componeers in my practice, they are a nice restoration so long as you know what they are (your dentist seems to have explained it well).

White filling material is called composite. Its basically tooth coloured glass in a resin. A veneer is a fake fingernail for the font of a tooth to change its colour, shape etc.

Veneers can be made of a few materials. You can make them directly (the dentist carves them into a tooth shape in your mouth) or indirectly (lab made and then cemented), indirect composite veneers premade and the tooth made fit the veneer or custom made in the lab from an impression both are glued to the tooth.

Basically composite veneers < Componeers < Porcelain Veneers.
Ceramic or porcelain veneers look a LOT better and generally require less preparation of your tooth. Componeers are good looking enough but nowhere near as good as porcelain (good porcelain, you can get terrible looking cheap porcelain veneers too), direct composite veneers require a great deal of skill to place well and generally dont last that well.

Componeers are new enough, so I cannot tell you the longevity. Generally I use them for patient that cannot afford the ceramic but need something in the short to medium term. BTW Componeer is a brand name, there are other indirect premade composite veneers out there that do the same thing. Ask to see pictures of the dentist cosmetic work, the general appearance be it ceramic or composite will give you an idea of their skill and artistry.

Thank you very much for clear reply.
My dentist has had his own busy practice in the same place for about 25 years so I'm hoping he's been doing most things right however I don't know how much veneer work he's been doing...yet.

Do you think these would work for a man just turned 60. Coffee wine etc have discoloured the teeth over the years & there are also three big(ish) fillings needed along the front upper.

    Thanks
