Can anyone recommend a good site to buy a commuting bag? I'd need it for a small laptop and bike helmet. And I'd be using Dublin Bikes.

    Checkout www.timbuk2.com.
These bags are pricey, but look cool and are bombproof. I got one 4 years ago, and it is still has no sign of giving up despite dogs abuse.

I have one of the Timbuk2 medium messengers, loads of room for a 13" Macbook and a change of clothes and shoes etc. Keeps the rain out fairly well, once you make sure the corners are covered.

I upgraded the strap pad to the "Deluxe" on which is much better when the bag's loaded.

Vaude bags are also worth a look. Just replaced one that I had for 9 years which I used and abused every day, it took some beating. Very comfy, have a clever spine on them which keeps the load of the bag away from your back (less sweating). Bit pricey but well worth the money.
