measuring tool in google for fields

    i remember seeing a post a few weeks ago where you could measure the area in a field from a google link

    anyone know it?

    Google maps has a tool for it. Used it recently for a perimeter fence and it was fairly good. Probably not 100% accurate though

    used itunes measure your land,
    very close compared to my own measurement

    I think Google Maps is very invasive when you can get an Aerial view of what a certain farm looks like. ie: farm layout, machinery and livestock.
    Usually the pictures are a few years old. But you can't see under the roofs of buildings. I think portlaoise prison is the only place in Ireland not on google earth. Also a lot of other places around the world are blurry as well.
    It's great for looking at the farms in NZ and you can see paddocks, underpasses, parlours etc.
    It's how the solar companies are picking out sites in Ireland as well.

    Edit: scrap that portloaise prison is also on it.
    No where is safe.
