Looking at getting UPC Horizon into the house to cover TV, phone & Internet.

My question is if I purchase multi room for the bedroom is it the horizon box that is supplied now?

Only one horizon box per household. For multiroom you will get the old hd box.

You can get Horizon it will be your Main UPC Box
With Broadband/TV/Phone

Then If you want Multi Room TV for other rooms in your home
you can choose
from choices below
1)Digital+ Box
2)Digital Box(No Recording)

You would have Horizon HD Box
then in another room
Digital+ Box or Digital Box(No Recording)

Horizon HD Box only 1 box per home allowed

Wasn't there talk of a multiroom box that would be a slave off the Horizon box? The theory was that it would receive the TV signal OTA so you could put an extra TV in any room, even one with no co-ax point. You'd still have to pay a sub. for each box but you wouldn't be tied to wall points.

Or was that a dream?

The Horizon Multi Room Box is still only in development stage in Holland
It will still require a coax point to receive TV Channels it will share some functions by wireless connection to main Horizon Box(You will need a coax point)

Its in very early stage of its development late next year before its gets released if next year and more likely be following year for Ireland

But in my experience Streaming Video over wireless is not good and you only get excellent video streaming by a wired connection
So I would be not in a rush to use a Horizon Slave Box with no wired Ethernet connection as it will only have wireless

UPC wont allow more than 2 Horizon Box in a house due to its Main broadband Function
as wireless quality in homes will vary due to interference conditions and I can see lot of wifi problems with a wireless only slave box

Even if there was a Lan Ethernet connection on a Horizon Slave Box be sort of pointless having to run long Ethernet cable to have it in another room

Can anyone tell me if you can connect a netgear router to the horizon box to be able to have internet in a different room then just the one the box is in. I use to be able to stream in my back garden now I have to be at least six feet from the box?

It's fine I just plugged in the netgear and it's much better. ok the speed is not as quick in the room with the box (I get 50gb from horizon box, 20gb from the netgear) where as down the end of my garden I get 9gb from the horizon box and still 20gb from the netgear. so now I just leave both in and if I'm in the room I use horizon if I'm outside netgear. perfect.
