I'm wondering if anyone can advise me please on how a persons social welfare can change if they get married or cohabiting with their working partner. My partner earns in the region of 30k. We have no dependants and don't claim rent allowance etc. thanks for any help

Means test is usually what happens you will more than likely be cut some money in your weekly payment. Keep all receipts of all your expences.

If your on Job seekers benefit, it won't make any difference, but if and when you claim Job seekeers allowance both you and your partners income from all sources will be means tested.

As a guide the most a couple who are both on JSA can get is €312 and around €29 each for any child dependent.
