milking parlour sizes

    hey all, just looking for some advice on parlour sizes,

    have an old dairy on the farm which was in use just about within the last 10 years, its 16ft5inch wide of a shed, loft above, couldnt tell you what centres the old parlour was at.
    what size of machine would i fit into this shed could any1 tell me? 2,6?

    16' 5" would be on the narrow side for 2.5' centers unless you have a narrow pit.

    Throw up a few pictures of the shed with dimensions.

    the shed is about 45ft long or more, thats just the part with the pit and all, dairy room seperate.

    the pit in it at the moment is 5ft 6 wide, what is the ideal size?

    that is a 3ft center parlour . I have fitted 2ft6" parlours in dat with but de pit will be under 4 foot the work well pit has to be clear nothing droped down low line wash if posable ,I have done 3ft's for milking from between de legs ok to cows not turned as much .You fit 10 uints in there depending on wat way cows come in ,How menny gallons per hour or year u goin to do?

    there was a 8unit in it, with space for 10unit. are 3ft centres not as popular now or whats the story nowadays? im a bit green to parlour sizes and all. hope to milk 70- 80 cows, 10 unit be more than grand for me.

    Hi wats the ideal width of the passage where the cows stand while being milked in a 3ft centre parlour im taking out straight concreat troughs and putting in zig zag feed managers its is only 63 inches from the main wall and concreat trough is a foot and a half i think so cows only have about 45 inches the zig zag troughts would alloy more room up front would i get away without having to widen the passage the pit is 6 ft wide
