I'm currently on a BTEA payment and will soon be attending college in the next few weeks but my mother is suffering from depression and it's impossible living in this house now.

I was wondering if there was any way i'd be able to apply for rent allowance? i'm 21 years of age btw..

    Thanks :D

You need to be registered with the local housing authority as having a housing need, and depending on where you live, you might also need to be renting privately for at least 6 months to be entitled to rent allowance. They generally do not give it to you if you are already on BTEA, but will allow you to retain it if you go to BTEA after getting it.
