Im going back to work after maternity leave shortly and have agreed to work half a day for the first three months, taking annual leave for the other half a day. My work hours are normally 9-5 which includes a lunch hour (not sure if it's paid or unpaid-assume it's paid), so do I work 9-12.30 or 9-1pm? My boss has implied the latter.

If your lunch hour is paid then you work 8 hour days, so a half day (4hrs) is 9-1. If your lunch is not paid, you work a seven hour day so therefore a half day = 9-12.30. I would imagine that you'll be doing a 4hr day, ie, 9-1.

Most places do not pay for lunch. In such a case you either work 9-12.30 and have no break, or you work til 1 and take a 30 min break at about 11.30. So in your normal day (pre-maternity) you worked 8hrs, with 7 hours paid. On your part time hours 3.5 hours should be worked and paid, and 3.5hrs per day taken from AL.
