My friend transferred a substantial amount of money from an irish online savings ulster bank account to an Australian account. She accidentally put an extra digit in the account number so the account number was invalid therefore the aussie bank did not receive the money and the money has left the Irish account.the Aussie bank say the money did not go into another persons account because its an invalid code, the Irish bank cannot confirm where the money is and she has been waiting over a week for a callback from her branch. Does anyone know where the money might be, how she can get it back quickly and what her rights are. Thanks.

Most likely in an intermediary bank's holding account. UB can trace the transaction but it could end up costing her money.
