    Hi,
There is a possibility that Im going to have to repeat 2nd year. I have just found out that the fees to repeat are nearly 6,000. I know that I wont be able to pay that until February.

Would the University allow me to pay them in Feb and start in September?

Well, you have a few options.

You can repeat the whole year, or just the modules you fail.

If you repeat 'internally', you attend lectures etc as a normal year.

If you repeat 'externally', you don't have to pay nearly as much. Repeating this way means you just turn up for exams etc. However, not all modules can be repeated externally, and if even one module can't be then you have to repeat all you failed modules internally.

Internally, you pay the full reg fee + a cost per module. Externally, no reg fee + a cost per module, but the cost is far far less.

The registrar's office will be able to tell you exactly where you stand. Or, you can speak to the department secretary - they know everything and are the ones who actually run the college.

If you want to speak to someone in confidence who understands this stuff in detail, you can hit up the SU President at at President@Nuimsu.com.

I know for a 7.5 credit module it is 700 euro to repeat in internally and you also have to pay 100 registration fee. Half of the total must be paid before you register and the rest can be paid in installments. If you choose to repeat externally it is 60 euro per module and you are allowed access to the library and to borrow books but that is all. Well that's the information I've been told!

I heard a rumor of a person who paid as an external student for the modules they failed, which is basically paying to sit the exams and who upon occasion would find themselves sitting in the lectures anyway... big classes have a lot of people and one could easily go unnoticed..... I do not for a minute condone or advocate that you do this ;) however theoretically it could be achieved, just don sit any In class Assements or exams or have your hand up drawing attention to yourself- or you could be caught rotten.

You gotta do what you gotta do.
