    Hi lads,

Would like some advice for a Malin-Mizen trip being planned for next year. If anyone can advise on the condition of the roads, busy junctions that should be avoided etc. etc., it would be massively appreciated.

Day 1: Malin Head to Enniskillen - http://ridewithgps.com/trips/1736877
Food stops in Muff, Co Donegal and Newtownstewart, Co Tyrone.

    Day 2: Enniskillen to Birr - http://ridewithgps.com/trips/1736878
Food stops in Mohill, Co Leitrim and Ballymahon, Co Longford.

    Day 3: Birr to Mallow - http://ridewithgps.com/trips/1736879
Food stops in Thurles, Co Tipperary and Kilbehenny, Co Limerick.

Day 4: Mallow to Mizen Head - http://ridewithgps.com/trips/1736880
Food stops in Macroom and Bantry, Co Cork

    Total distance is around 610km.

    Thanks.

Have you finalized the route? Mizen-Malin is the easier way to do it, you're likely to have a headwind all the way when doing it North-South.

No route finalised, no. I don't think there would be a massive headwind cycling south, surely, more of a crosswind. Also, finishing in Mizen is more convenient because all the people that will be cycling are from North Cork, South Limerick or South Tipperary.

There may not be a massive headwind, but there is likely to be some. I did it last year S-N and we had a tailwind all the way (except around the Burren). We did take a longer route around the coast though. That said, it was a pain in the arse logistically getting down to Mizen head, easier to start in Malin from that perspective.

I would suggest adding a day or two and going along the west coast, made for an amazing trip when I did it.
