So I've a stomach bug and sitting here in a bundle of self pity, the mother in all her wisdom has told me to get a can of 7up...but does that actually work? Or d'ye have any other suggestions for getting rid of this bug?

    Always worked for me

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Since 7up is sold in shops rather than chemists I would doubt its healing abilities. Have you tried going on the beer?

It works. If you don't want to wait for the 7-up to be flat, a useful tip would be to drop a teaspoon of sugar into there and stir. Gets rid of any fiziness.

It's good to get some sugars into you, while keeping you hydrated.

I had a dose of campylobacter last year, and the doctor recommended it for that reason.
I was told to avoid milk. If it's a bacteria caused food poisoning, the milk can help 'culture' the bacteria making it harder for your body to get over it.

My GP told me to give this to my daughter when she had an upset stomach. Supposedly it works the same way dioralyte does to rehydrate you and replace electrolytes.

It is/was nothing more then a trick to get kids to drink fluids when sick with a tummy ache or a sore throat.
The removal of the gas was to make it easier to drink with said sore throat..

When you try to keep your child hydrated when they only want to throw up.... Only then will you learn the true power of 7up.

My GP always tells me to drink 7up when I'm sick. He also gives me a prescription for anti biotics too though :pac:

This may sound weird but whenever I am unwell I go and spend a good while (20mins) in the steam room of my gym and sweat it out of me but also the steam helps clear the chest and throat

7up for an upset stomach? . . .why not sprite? :D

The Citric Acid is probably beneficial but you can also find this in various fruit and vegetables. (reduces gastric acidity)

Eat/drink anything with Citric Acid and it probably has the same effect.

never mind 7up - go for some red lemonade, slightly simmered.

A probiotic yogurt can work miracles for a dodgy tummy.
