lads i just picked up a 840 pro(256 gb) ssd and want to transfer all data from my 120gb ssd to it...
is it as simple as hooking it up and running the migrating software that came with the disc??? or is there something else i should be aware of??

    Cheers

Depending on a tool (ie CloneZilla), you might end up with an unallocated disk space. This is simply because cloning process makes perfect copy of source drive without harming any files, drivers, configs, MBR, you name it... At least this is true with HDDs, I haven't cloned an SSD yet.

You can allocate lost size (in your case ~130GB) and attach it within Disk management built in Windows by simply expanding drive instead of making a new partition.

I might sound a little old school for this stuff, as it probably has been dumbed down by now. Out of curiosity - what kind of migrating software came with with your disc?

On the subject of cloning, has anyone used Acronis to clone an SSD?

I just used the software that was supplied with the ssd...It was too easy.25mins for 110 gb to be migrated to the new ssd. I took out the old and replaced it with the new...Fired up the rig and no worries...perfect..
