following on from my earlier thread I've decided to abandon my karate gi.
I noticed at training the other night that people were wearing different coloured suits. white, black, red and blue. also from looking online I noticed that most of the suits have something embroidered on them. so what's the story? in my karate class embroidered suits or coloured suits wouldn't really be encouraged. do the colours mean anything? and would I look like a tool going in to class with embroidery on my suit?

From the colours you mentioned it sounds like you're in in a BJJ club? If so the colours don't mean anything, just a matter of personal preference. Bear in mind though that if you ever want to enter any of the larger tournaments, the gi must be white, blue or black.

The various designs, embroidery etc are again a matter of choice and branding. Your best bet is to talk to your instructor and ask them if they have a recommendation. They may have some for sale or have some guidelines for what they are happy with.

No its traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu.
I suppose plain white is the best bet anyway.

    You're best asking your coach.
