The over extractor fan has a 120mm extractor. Problem is, the builder (who has now left) drilled a 4" air vent.

Is is a problem to convert to a 4 inch from 120mm without reducing effectiveness of the fan?

You'll be grand. 4" outlet ( unobstructed ) will be fine.

4 inch will be grand the extractor should actually have a reducer in the box or in the fan somewhere.
