    For TTWNF

I am no expert on lenses – but I like the 80-400 for its size and ‘ zoom flexibility’.
It is relatively small & light and has an aeasy to control zoom function.

These plusses come with a real negative and that is the widest aperture size of F5.6( fully extended).
This really is a pain in the ass for sports stuff in standard Irish light as you have to zap the ISO way up to 500 and upwards to get shutter speeds that will prevent blurred/unfocussed images.

Having said that I used bring an old warhorse 300mm 2.8mm nikkor AF lens to Croker- which gave great images at much lower ISOs. But it was heavy and inflexible and as well as that when in the stand in the place you don’t want to look like a bit of a plonker,

All the photos were taken from the 21m line at the Canal end of the pitch so I was a long way from this piece of action.

    All action shots were at 195mm @ F5.6 – ISO 560.

This does still gives decent quality – see an original here

And the subsequent crop on Photoshop

I am bringing the lens to Laytown races tomorrow – so hopefully it will do the business.

All Ireland Semi last year Dubs v Mayo- The Hill.
What I like about this is the reaction of the fans - look at their faces:)

    Harsh response there keps!

Lovely shots though so Well Done to you on the photos. Dubs for AI 2014 now after that match imo.

Jeez, first shocker that the Dubs can operate a hurley & now a possible All-Ireland in 2014. Wonders will never cease! :)
