What is the story if you buy a car with outstanding finance (in the UK) over here? The car in question is on english plates at present.

Is the seller the person who took out the finance?
    Is the seller a garage?

It appears to be a small dealer working out of his home - I checked 4 of the many cars he's stocking and 3 have finance outstanding; all are on english plates.

I was wondering if they could be finance repo's that's being sold.

They may be clear of finance, the first uk import i purchased had finance outstanding according to the HPI check. I contacted the finace company through HPI who confirmed that the finance was cleared.

Could be just he ihas finance on his stock. I purchased a BMW from a main dealer in the UK. The check was showing finance on it. Spoke to the dealer and it was showing finance because fo the way they were financing their stock. It was all sorted and I purchased it.

So ringing the finance company would be the best way to go?

Speak to the dealer, and get him to sort it with where he got it.........it'll be the quickest path to resolving it for you, and a sale for him. If he's worth dealing with, he'll sort it quickly.

The fact that the seller didn't tell you up front would make me walk straight away. What else is he not telling you?
