Hey, I'm studying the poem, "Dulce et Decorum Est" and we have to write about how vulnerable the young soldiers were, I don't know what to write and I need help!

    thanks in advance!

I haven't looked at the poem in months, but this is what I remember.

    1) The soldiers are weak and tired. They "marched as asleep". This tells us that they might as well be asleep, that's how weak and tired they are. They also have to carry a heavy load, they were "bent double like old beggers under sacks".

    2) The soldiers get a horrific experince. Gerard sees a guy "floudering like a man on lime or fire". The experince is "obscene as cancer."

If you need anything else, let me know :).
