My friend did it once and I think she told me it was in the early €20ish euro per journal, it was a few years ago so could be wrong though. (I remember though when i heard the amount thinking it was good money as jc practicals only €7.07 plus day allowances and mileage) You don't get too many from what I can remember like maybe 100. Deductions are insane. I do the Jc practicals and superintendent and always use 62% as a rough guide for deductions. Never did journals myself but always hear at meetings it is hard to get them.

Great, thanks for info. I always superintend, correct and do practicals too. Just want to do journals to say I have them all done, no info online for rates etc! Would be beneficial to teaching!! Cheers!

Yes very beneficial. Samples are giving at marking conference which have been marked to give you guideline. Very useful to guide you for evaluations for future years! I was going to apply this year but will be will on maternity leave. Maybe next year :) I reckon it might be easier to get them this year as anyone on leave wont be allowed to mark and also anyone over €65,000 I presume will be deducted so it may deter them? My friend has corrected everything written Jc, lc, and journals and said she roughly comes out with the same around €1200 net only difference is she has to mark less for lc.

It was 24.44 last year. Generally get about 100-120 journals. New examiners get about 80 I think.
It's good enough money but as always with correcting the workload is huge.
Don't forget they're done over nov - jan so you also have to contend with your own Xmas class tests, and of course Xmas itself. I gen work to schedule and manage to get Xmas eve, Xmas day and Stephens day off but apart from that your hols are pretty much written off.
But it is invaluable experience and a huge learning curve for teachers
It is hard to get so apply and cross your fingers for the reserve panel.
