I am interested in getting an idea of the trend in the use of wormers over the summer grazing period. I'm not interested in Fluke doses or whether it's in a combined dose or not, nor the way it's administered, just the type of wormer used.

Doses are generally divided into three groups:

    1. White doses.... Panacur, Albex and all their various analogues/generics. These are the benzimadozole group and the chemical names usually end with ...zole.

    2. Yellow doses.... Levacide, Nilverm.... and other trade names; often combined with fluke doses... Multidose etc.
These have usually levamisole as the active wormer ingredient; tetramisole is probably long off the market.
Pyrantal is usually put into this category too.

    3. Avermectins
.....generally injectable but also pour-on versions...Ivomec, Dectomax, Cydectin, Qualimec, Bimectin, Ecomec, ad infinitum.
These are the only group offering persistence of activity.
The chemical names usually end with ..ectin eg.Ivermectin, Doramectin, Moxidectin, Abamectin.

Give one vote for each time you have/will administer a dose to calves/weanlings, basically cattle under one year old.

If you are using different doses over the grazing season vote for each type.

Now, to try to set up a poll.... first attempt so I'm bound to get something wrong. Bear with me.

I think this poll will show a definite trend. The poll is open for 66 days to basically cover to the end of the grazing season.

So, one vote for each use. Dead simple. :)

Expect not to have dosed by end of grazing season.
used a mix of everything so far on each round, changed product after every 5 weeks, so ticked all three boxes

is there much of a difference within the different mectin family

Bob, I think the main difference is the period of persistence.
