    Next Home in Carrickmines are selling slate placemats:

    Would I be able to use these as plates as well or would they need to be treated to do so?

    I'd use them as placemats 90 per cent of the time but if we were doing a cheese salad or bruschetta & salad etc for lunch, I thought it would be nice to use them as plates for that.

    Are slate placemats and slate plates essentially the exact same thing anyway?

    Be aware Slate is somewhat porous. High temp wash after use.
