Our 20th wedding anniversay is just around the corner. I'm stuck on choosing somewhere for a 2 night surprise city-break. We've been to Rome, Venice, Paris already so I'm ruling these cities out. Any suggestions please?

    If you like Paris, Rome and Venice, I would suggest;

    Prague
    Barcelona
    Madrid
    Amsterdam
    Budapest

There are countless more options, places like
    Berlin
    Lisbon
    Warsaw
    Krakow

But not sure what your other requirements are so can't really guide you.

+1 for Madrid & Prague. Great walking cities without too much traffic in the centre!

I go to Madrid most years and just love it. If you would like a hotel recommendation, right in the centre near all the main sights, then take a look at the Intur Palacio San Martin.

    I would not recommend Milan.

    +1 prague
fantastic city. so much to see and do. brought my wife to the state opera and we had a box to ourselves, major brownie points!

i really like stockholm too if you're looking for somewhere different but its not cheap!

Lisbon may not be an option as we go to the Algarve every summer......... I'll Google Madrid, seeing as it is recommended by a number of boarders

I liked Madrid but really prefered Barcelona.

Stab in the dark: Edinburgh? Or too close?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Too close......... Wonder why no one suggested London?

Could never really relax in London - always found Edinburgh more easy going. And physically beautiful.

Another stab in the dark: Brugges? (Fly to Brussels, one hour train ride)

+1 Lovely city but the metro and Las Ramblas (their Temple Bar) are notorious for pickpockets.
