Anyone go to mule sale last Friday in Ballinrobe? Missed it for first time in 8 years and would be very interested in what the hogget trade was like...

was there, 11 of the best hogget pens from the one owner made from €200 back to €185, no doubt you know who had them if you were there before

the general run was around 140-160, very mixed quality, some struggled to make over 100

ewe lambs topped 200 for the 1st prize winners from the same owner above, i bought just the one pen from the same owner

was some well made ewe lambs didnt make much more that a 100 but were on light side. some lots were very fine of themselves and the general run was around 120

Cheers Razor sounds average trade, normally buy 100 hoggets each year doesn't sound like I was overly missed. Have you bought from that owner before, I m always concerned how well feed they are

i always bred my own mules, this year was first purchasing some. i seen same guys sheep last year when buying a blue leic at the second sale and i was impressed

theres no doubting the lambs were well fed but i still think there is very good breeding behind him, il know next year if there worth it

I was talking to a man yesterday who sell 360 Suffolk cross cheviots, last year he got 135 a head for his 4th draw (brings out 60 a day) this year his first draw made 118 a head
