This might help, UCC is only 10-15 minute walk from bus station. Its a lot of traveling everyday. You would be best moving to UCC.

I second Jamies advice - try and get a room down there if at all possible. Edit: Google maps says it's 1 hour 30 minutes by car from Cashel to UCC, and that's if you have a car! There are more than likely buses mirroring the M8, but unless you have absolutely no choice, I'd suggest avoiding it.

If you can get as far as Mitchelstown the 245 departs 0710 and arrives 0835 into Parnell Place. I think an estimate of 10-15mins might be on the light side unless you enjoy reaching your first lecture in a sweat. The trip home would be comparatively simpler as long as you don't have to stay late - X8 from Parnell Place 1800 for Cashel 1939.

I have walked from the far end of UCC to the train station in 20 minutes, was in a rush as had 1 minute to make a train but 15 minutes from the bus station is lots unless you are a very slow walker.

Thanks for replies, definitely won't be moving down, can drive but would just rather not if at all possible!

If IE would dispatch an early train from Dublin you could commute from Limerick Junction and arrive into Cork rail station around 0835. Maybe if Mr Franks is serious about his business express it might happen. No help right now of course!

I think that is a bad idea. It is likely the cost of commuting will cost more then renting in Cork and then add to that all the time you would save commuting and have a much better quality of life.
