Am planning on tiling the wall next week

Ring Barry Scot, but hold the fone away from your ear.

The Lidl kitchen cleaner (orange bottle) is very good for greasy grime.

and a good sharp paint scraper, if you're tiling the wall it won't matter if you remove back to the plaster.

Just spray it with neat white vinegar, leave for 20 minutes and rub off. Have used this on the splash back tiles, shower tiles, floor tiles etc... tried all the normal cleaners, none worked as good!

Cillit Bang Power Cleaner Grease & Sparkle. Sprayed it on an extractor hood that was thick with grease and the grease was dripping off in a matter of seconds. It's brilliant stuff!!!

No! Bang! and the grease is gone!

He asked for something to take off grease and I recommended a product that I find to be excellent and I have tried loads! I worked in a restaurant for many years and have tried hundreds of products from professional chemicals to sugar soap and I can honestly say it's the only product that actually works. It is expensive but you don't need much.

I suppose there is easy grease that Barry Scott removes, and the normal one that forms in normal homes around the pan and the chippie. Give my regards to Barry.

have to say the Cillit Bang worked a treat. took paint off with it so wont be using it on other walls but was great for the job. Spray it on, leave it a few minutes and the dirt basically fell off. took the elbow grease out of it and this wall was caked in ick!
