There are a couple of Porche Boxters on Carzone from 2001 for around the 10k mark.

Anyone aware of any issues with these cars? Are they expensive to maintain and service?

I dont know .... 10k is way too much for a porch. A door, maybe a window or two ...a few bricks and some tiles on the roof, no way that should cost so much

    Sigh..your username now I understand. .. :pac:... :)

OP - way too much- if you're not bothered about number plates a 98/99 can be had for as little as 4k....

The cars can be good but don't buy without a proper inspection by someone who knows Porsches first. You'd be surprised how much a short list could cost to fix. ...

Cheers. Would the AA vehicle inspection be good enough?

    Doubt it.

I'd use someone like this. http://www.specialistcarsireland.com/Inspection.aspx

No, not really. Nothing wrong with AA for a Std car but I'd be looking for something more specialised in this case.

OPH in Dublin or Bryan Kane in Harmonstown Motors are amongst the first people I'd recommend to start with as you really need someone who knows what to look for on a Porsche.

As said you'd be better off with a specialist. Porsche parts carry a massive premium. For example, the Touraeg and the Cayenne share a few parts. The difference between a part stamped VW and Porsche is astronomical.
