I'm not an expert on this but if the car is a regular car with back seats, windows and a boot, it cant be taxed commercially. It has little to do with having a vat number.

it is a proper commerical santa fe what i was asking is there any way to tax it commericaly.
if i were self employed ii could or if i had pigs i could.
i wanted it to carry my own personal stuff around but the tax is far to high.
i know people who have a couple of pigs they were able to get it for transporting them.
i was just wondering if there was any other way.

Strictly speaking if you tax a vehicle commercially you can only use it for work and not for any kind of private use. You need to making a declaration at a Garda station to state this. You do not need a vat number as some small businesses do not reach the threshold but you will need to give a PPS no. I dont know if the Gardai inforce this law very much nor do I know if the tax office will look for commercial insurance rather than a private policy. So I suppose it's up to you whether you want to make a false declaration or not.
