    What do ye think Guys?
Are the lifts going to be open?
There are nice aer lingus flights for 136eur to munich 11th Dec to 16th which is a Thurs to Monday so you'd only need 2.5 days off work for 4 days skiing.
Train munich to kufstein for 46 eur return.
Single rooms there for 40eur a night at that time of year

So 4 days skiing for less than 400eur maybe if you have you're own gear...
    Opinions?

Pick a spa resort so you have something to do whilst the lifts are closed?

Dr Nic; You may get some skiing, you may get no skiing, you could get powder have a look at Zugspitze, that will be open in Garmisch and only and hour from Munich.

Hire a car and drive to Hintertux, guaranteed skiing in December. I ski there in early December each year.

Sorry to be digging up my own old thread but im still looking at a week in december, 11th til 18th. None of my friends can go though and id love to have someone to board with. Would it be possible to board with a school at that time of year? Or even find someone to board with and go off piste??
    Cheers...
    Its real cheap around then!

It's real cheap for a reason. You're running a pretty big risk of bad snow.

Schools being open depends on each resort.

    DR Nic;
Depending on where you go it could be good bad or indifferent just like any other time of the year, most Ski Schools etc will be open if the lifts are. You will have tons of seasonaires with time on their hands who will board with you in exchange for beer, especially resort veterans.

Its cheap as its off peak no schools

I have skied knee deep powder in December or compacted man made, it just depends on the season. Aim high 1,500 up and you should have something decent especially if it has a glacier near bye.

Looking at Mayerhofen again so, thanks fattes...
Reasons - High, ski bus to hintertux, decent train to munich...

Q - how would i get in touch with such a seasonairre? Or would there be a ski school that would go off piste??

    I gotta burn! :-)

    Snowheads.com really good forum.
They do a pre season bash 1st wk December but can't go with work :-(
Might go to LA plagne instead last wk before xmas. Decent flights into Geneva. Ski pass is 25% off that wk too. I'd say its class there...

La Plagne, is a really good spot. You will be sorted there.
