factory price???

hi all. I have 10, 2 and a half year old cattle, charolais sem and bb. they have ben fed for the last 7 weeks. the factory owner called today and offered my father 4.15 for bullocks and 4.20 for the heifers. they are all fit to be killed.my father pushed him a small bit but but not tooo much. is there better prices to be got??? grass is scarce. what should we do???

If grass is scarce you might be as well off taking it. You say they are 2 and a half year old but once they go over the 30 months you are potentially losing 12c/kg if you are quality assured so I would be inclined to kill them if they are nearly fit and under 30months.

Even if prices were staying stable I would sell. 12 cent bonus is equivalent to a 12 cent drop when it is gone. It might be different if you taught all of them would go up a grade but in reality this would not happen.
