    Well it may not always be feasible to follow through with the sniff e.g. if you are on public transport, in a meeting, queuing for something etc.

    Not after scratching, if I get a finger or two up I'll usually give a sniff though.

    Not much of a scratcher myself, but sometimes if I have a turtle head poking out i'll use my index and middle finger, latch onto that MF and just yank it
    right out. Then i'll have a good sniff.

    WARNING: only to be attempted with certain types of poo, e.g. the big long hard one.
