Camera settings fo whale watching?

    Hi looking for some advice , im going whale watching tomorrow and would like to know which settings would be best suited to take pics, I imagine itll be very bright with glare. I have a Nikon P510. Im a beginner at best.

    Bring/take sea sickness pills, if you find yourself looking at the screen or viewfinder all zoomed in for a period of time your stomach might not like it.

    Unless you're very close and the whales are particularly active you'll struggle to get decent images. As above stick it in sports mode and just take bursts.

    You'll need a circular polariser if you want to see past all the glare in the water surface.

    Just wondering how you got on, any photos? In my experience those whales can be hard to capture, big and all as they are

    how'd it go Tony, I did a whale shoot down in South Africa a few years ago on a bridge camera, stuck it in sports mode...if I knew them what I know now..but I think I got one or two god shots out of maybe 200 pictures

    got a couple good ones but nothing amazing, the magical breaching shot never happened :) good day though
