    1. What is your budget? [€xxx]€700- but as low as possible.

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing/3D Modelling/HTPC/Internet] (If gaming include which games) Gaming mostly. Movies and the likes.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes/No] no.

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] (If possible state brand and model of the parts to ensure compatibility) yes, 3 1TB hard drives. They'll do for storage.

    5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes/No] Possibly, depending on budget. i want a decent PC and can always get a monitor later.

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.] [Yes/No]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.] no i'll sort these out myself.

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No] yes

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser]any

    9. When are you purchasing? [In x days] depending on build, as soon as i decide.

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [South Dublin City/Cork City/Kerry/etc.] no i'll be sound.

Right lads, after stalking threads for long enough, i've recently gotten news that a game i used to play on PS3 has moved into the PC gaming industry, so i'll be making the move with it.

If someone would be so kind as too suggest me a build that will play me the lastest games, at a reasonable price. I don't need the greatest thats out there, just enough to tide me over for a few years before another upgrade.

hit me with your builds, all things considered.

How's this? You have a couple of options on how to spend the rest. Either add The 120gb ssd below and upgrade the graphics card to the 760 gtx or grab the 22" 1080p ips monitor. The 760 is only a minor upgrade to the 660ti. The ssd will improve your windows experience a lot and you should definitely add one later if you don't now.

What res is your current monitor/tv?

Thanks bloodbath, i had a list of a few bits and you've ticked most of them off. I just wasn't sure on which Mobo would do and best value RAM.

My current screen would be a nice 32" TV, although i'd imagine this would be too big.

would you suggest this build or save up another 200-300 and go that way? i'm in no rush building, and just want to get the best i can and hopefully last a couple of years.

thanks for your help either way, it's brilliant how you help everyone here.

No problem. Just recruiting more people to the glorious gaming pc master race :)

There's plenty of power there to last you a few years. All you will need is a graphics card upgrade in a couple of years maybe. There's a lot of life in an overclocked fx 6300.

You don't have to spend more. A 32 inch tv is fine depending on what distance you are from it. What resolution is it? The picture quality on the ips panel is most likely a fair bit better but only you can decide what to do there.

I'd try and include the ssd if you can but if not you have 3 hdd's anyway so it's not the end of the world. You can add it later.

Hmm i see. I've been looking at the i5 3750K builds. What sort of budget would i need to make this plausible?
I'm up for taking a hit in the wallet, how much more performance would an i5 buold have over the one you've posted?

Also, my tv is 1920 x 1080, so i'm sure it'll do for now anyway.

The 3570k is a better processor no doubt although I suspect there's very little between a 100% utilised 6300 and 3570 when both are overclocked.

The main thing it has over the 6300 is around 25% stronger per core performance clock for clock. The 4670k would have around 35% stronger per core performance clock for clock. However the 6300 has 2 extra threads.

The problem is a lot of games are still using only 2 or 4 cores or not using more than 2 effectively. They would be on par in performance in most games but cpu limited games that only use 2 cores tend to do a fair bit better on the 3570k/4570k. Examples are Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and the Total War series. However you would still get over 60fps in most of them.

With next gen consoles using 6 cpu cores for games this could well change though to the stage where there is 0 difference in performance between the 2. This is already the case with most games.

A 3570k build will cost about €110-120 more. A 4670k will cost about €140-150 more.

    Hmm very interesting.

I may try and save for another month, or 2 and come back. I'd like to have enough to buy everything at once.
Hopefully i don't blow money on a nexus or PS4 in that time. GTA V is a must. Fifa too. Ah this saving craic is hard.

thanks for the help BB, much appreciated.

Don't succumb to the consoles. PC will have far superior graphics and will cost you less in the long run with no monthly online fees and far cheaper games. Not to mention you can use it for anything not just gaming and streaming.

GTA 5 is coming to pc, possibly a little later than console though. Fifa gets released at the same time.
