How many 4*4 Round bales in an 8*4*4 square bale,
i know the compaction would alter it but a rough estimate would be great. Tanks

    About 2 and a bit, I thinks it's about 2 & 1/4

    4 x 4 = pi * (r * r) * h = 3.1416 * (2*2)* 4 = 50.26 cubic feet
    8*4*4 = l * b * h = 8 * 4 * 4 = 128 cubic feet

    128\50 = 2.54

So 2 and a half time the volume in the 8 by 4

    600kilos, so around 3, 8x4x3 around 425 kilos so about 2 and a quarter

Round bales can be any weight, squares are much more consistent weight wise

If you do the maths, there are 50.24 cub ft in a 4X4 round.
    128 cub ft in a 8 X 4 X 4.
Therefore 2.5477707 rounds in the big bale!

that's correct provided the density is equal, a big variation in the density of round bales
