Cycling in the country, going downhill about 30-35mph when a mystery insect gets stuck in between my helmet strap and throat.
Stung in the throat, 2 mins from home, very sore, get home mad hot flush, full body rash and then face and tongue starts to swell up.
luckily my wife a nurse gives me piriton and slaps cream on me and shoots me off to the docs.
now on steroids and await allergy testing, throat still sore.

the moral of the story have a well stocked medicine cabinet and a nurse on standby everytime you go out.

BTW never had any problems before stung by bees, wasps and feckin bankers

carefu now ! down with this type of thing !

seriously you come onto a cycling forum and advise having a well stocked medicine cabinet - where have you been for the last few years ;););)

i got bitten by something a couple of weeks ago on the leg, it was a bit itchy does that count ?

Sorry to hear that. Get well soon!

But... it could have been avoided, if you weren't wearing a helmet. Dangerous thing!

I hate it when the insects fly into your mouth, I find it hard to cycle with my mouth shut 8-/. Now I make sure to have the sun specs on all the time so they don't go into my eyes. Dam insects,,!

The opposite, no helmet, no helmet straps for the insect to get trapped.

Ah, but had the insect been wearing a tiny bug helmet it might have experienced less impact and might have come off better, thus not needing to sting the OP
