    Hi,

I bought the following Panasonic Viera TX-L32EM6B and want to know how to get the freeview channels:

    http://www.currys.ie/Product/PANASONIC-Viera-TXL32EM6B-32andquot-LED-TV/318197/6.9.4

It states that it has built in Irish digital with a DVB-T2 Freeview HD Tuner.

I currently just have the TV without an aerial, so I'm presuming I need an aerial. I'm living in Galway. Is there anything else I need.

    Thanks.

You'll need an aerial anyway. If you're in Galway City, I'd say Tonabrocky is your nearest mast. If out east of Galway, Maghera would be your strongest signal. Have a look at Saorview.ie for tuning instructions, etc.

There's no hope of getting Freeview in any part of Galway.

Thanks for your response. What do you reckon my best option is to receive free channels, preferably including the Irish channels?

Separate boxes - Saorview for the Irish channels and Freesat with dish for the UK channels.

Single box - A combi receiver (Saorview/FTA satellite) will do both in 1 box when attached to dish and aerial.

    examples of combi receivers

    I posted this recently - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=86256343#post86256343

Edit: read your first post again
As you already have a TV to receive the Saorview channels a combi box would not be required. A Freesat+ PVR receiver would be a better option for the UK channels with recording, series link etc.

A Saorview+ PVR would be required to record the Irish channels with built-in HDD, series link etc.

Incorrect - the 20 KW PSB 1 Mux on channel 28 and the 20 KW PSB 2 Mux on channel 22 from the Brougher Mountain transmitter nr Enniskillen in NI CAN be received at Kilconnell near Ballinasloe which IS in Co. Galway.

I know as I have tested the signal there and even with a group A 10 element contract aerial and 19 db amp I was able to get these muxes to lock on with very little breakup. I was not able to test for the PSB 3 HD 20KW mux on channel 25 as I don't have the T2 receiver needed for this. I suspect there are other parts of north-east county Galway where these 20 KW muxes can also be received - reception reports welcome.
